Climate Care has been ranked best performing provider in four out of seven categories in a new report from leading US global warming NGO Clean Air-Cool Planet.

A Consumers' Guide to Retail Carbon Offset Providers surveyed the various organisations selling offsets to individuals, in order to provide guidance to consumers on what makes a good carbon offset provider. It is the first time that this kind of independent review has been undertaken.

A Consumers' Guide ranked top performing providers against seven criteria, and Climate Care was placed in first or second place in six of these:

Top performing for:

• Prioritization of offset quality
• Buyer’s ability to transparently evaluate offset quality
• Transparency in provider operation and offset selection
• Provider’s understanding of the technical aspects of offset quality.

Second place for:

• Ancillary Environmental and Sustainable Development Benefits of offset portfolios
• Use of Third-party project protocols and Certification.
