Climate Care are pleased to announce that a complaint made against it to the Advertising Standards Agency(ASA) in May 2004 has not been upheld. Last summer, an NGO called Sinkswatch made a complaint to the ASA, and argued that there was disagreement among experts about whether it was possible to quantify CO2 offsetting.
Following an investigation, the ASA decided not to uphold the complaint. In its adjudication, the ASA stated: "The Authority considered that scientific controversy over CO2 offsetting existed. It considered, however, that methods had been devised to quantify CO2 offsets and that Climate Care had adopted an appropriate project methodology, secured rigorous third-party verification, established a margin of error, accounted for risks as far as possible and constantly monitored projects."
