"How green is my carbon" debate

05.11.2006 "How green is my carbon" debate

The Royal Society of Arts (RSA) recently hosted a debate on carbon offsetting, as part of its CarbonLimited programme.  The panel included Climate Care's founding director, Mike Mason, along with the directors of Green Alliance, the New Economics Foundation and the Institute for Environment and Development.

Discussing carbon offsetting's role in responding to climate change, the panel provided a cautious thumbs up overall - carbon offsetting can be a powerful tool in reducing carbon emissions, engaging the public and stimulating bolder political action - while warning that it should not be seen as a panacea or replacement for policy change by governments.
