Offsets hit the high street

The Co-op travel firm Travelcare will be the first high street firm to offer customers the chance to offset their flights.
Initially carbon offsets will be available at pilot branches, but will be rolled out to all 340 Travelcare outlets by the end of the year. Eight cost bands have been established, reflecting the distance travelled. Travellers will be given the option to pay the full offset, for example £3 to mainland Spain, or 20 percent (this being the UK Government's target for CO2 reduction by 2010).
