business offset

Most leading businesses are on the path to developing a comprehensive sustainability strategy or already have one in place. A critical element of this strategy is energy and carbon management. It is vital for every business to understand its carbon footprint, identify emission reduction opportunities and begin making those reductions that are cost effective.

However, even businesses that are leading the world in carbon management still create carbon emissions each year. Carbon offsets enable businesses to take responsibility for these emissions. This is sometimes referred to as being carbon, or climate neutral. However, you don’t need to offset your entire footprint and can choose an aspect to start with such as a particular site, business travel or business unit. Including carbon offsets into your overall emission reduction strategy is considered best practise and endorsed by leading sustainability experts.

Brand resonance

Every business is unique. Products, services, locations, brand positioning, customer demographics to name but a few all differ. Similarly each carbon project is unique. So at ClimateCare we strive to understand our clients business, listen carefully to requirements and then select projects that resonate well with its business as far as possible. Once appropriate projects are selected, communicating the programme to stakeholders becomes simpler and the sustainability messages that much more powerful.

Carbon neutrality (PAS2060)

Over the years there has been confusion around the exact meaning of the phrase “Carbon Neutral”. In 2010 the British Standards Institute (BSI) launched a Publically Available Specification called PAS 2060, designed in conjunction with the government and the private sector, to bring standardisation to both processes and declarations.

To offset your business emissions it is not essential to use PAS2060. However, if you are planning to use the phrase “carbon neutral” it will add credibility to your claim. ClimateCare’s experts can guide you through the process and help you offset your business related emissions.
