Offset Programme Design and Management
There are two principal ways in which voluntary carbon credits are used by businesses.

• Product offset: combining carbon credits with a product or service that is offered to end consumers.
• Business offset: ClimateCare works with clients to ensure that offsetting is used within the framework of a comprehensive carbon management policy which emphasises the need to reduce internal emissions. Even within this framework, there will inevitably be residual, unavoidable emissions and the only mechanism available to address these is offsetting. Different organisations take different approaches, offsetting part or all of their residual emissions, for example; their business travel, energy usage or their entire carbon footprint.

ClimateCare works with clients to develop a bespoke portfolio of emission reduction projects which resonate with the nature of the business, its brand and goals. ClimateCare will take into account the desired project types, credit types, budget considerations and geographical locations. Every ClimateCare project is accredited to one of the leading voluntary market standards and credits are retired into the relevant emissions registry.

Offset Sales and Sourcing
For clients that are already in the market for carbon credits, ClimateCare has one of the largest project portfolios and most extensive sourcing capabilities in the voluntary market. As well as developing our own emission reduction projects, ClimateCare exclusively markets J.P. Morgan’s and EcoSecurities’ voluntary carbon credit portfolios. Our portfolio contains over 50 projects, covering many project types, locations, standards and vintages.

Carbon Finance in Development Projects
Working with ClimateCare does not have to mean buying carbon offsets. There are many businesses already involved in development-related projects, such as provision of clean water or improving health, and there are opportunities for ClimateCare to bring its carbon finance expertise to provide scale to these types of projects. This approach benefits businesses by addressing emissions reduction, sustainable development and social responsibility objectives in a co-ordinated manner, increasing the overall impact of an organisation’s investment in this area.
