ClimateCare has 14 years of experience in building projects on the strength of carbon finance. In addition, our project staff have together accumulated decades of experience in establishing large-scale and sustainable clean energy and poverty alleviation programmes in the developing world.
Sharing our Experience
By virtue of our experience of building successful humanitarian emission reduction projects on the ground, ClimateCare has developed key methodologies and technical guidelines. In 2007-8 ClimateCare developed a methodology for energy-saving devices such as cook-stoves, which was approved for general use by the Gold Standard Foundation and today forms the voluntary carbon market standard for dissemination of efficient cook-stoves and water filters (together with associated energy-saving devices).
To support the practical application of this methodology, we have developed (in collaboration with members of Oxford University Statistics, Engineering and Chemistry departments) a protocol “Guidelines for Performance Tests of Energy Saving Devices and Kitchen Performance Tests (KPTs)”.
ClimateCare will be pleased to offer practical advice on application of the methodology and the Guidelines. Please write to us at business@climatecare.org
Partnerships
We partner with commercial project operators and development organisations in several ways:
- by developing the carbon asset with you; this involves the analysis of potential carbon reductions, development of the necessary documentation, organisation of a third party evaluation and verification, and registration with the relevant authorities;
- by directly purchasing the emission reductions from the project on competitive terms, thereby providing your project with a potentially significant source of revenue.
Please note that we do not fund projects in the UK or Europe and we are not looking for further reforestation projects at this time.
Carbon Purchase
We purchase emission reductions directly from project developers, and are interested in both voluntary and compliance market credits. We look to purchase credits with the following criteria:
- High quality emission reductions.
- Volumes of 10,000 tonnes CO2 per annum or greater.
- Recent vintages, looking forwards.
