Leading our lives and running our businesses requires energy. Today that means using fossil fuels in some way. Fossil fuels are not renewable and when they are burnt CO2 is released into the atmosphere causing climate change.
There are many ways to reduce carbon emissions, including changing to renewable energy and reducing your travel. However, after we have taken all these steps, most of us will still have a carbon footprint.
For the element of your carbon footprint that you cannot avoid, best practise is to offset it. In ClimateCare’s experience nearly every company and individual treats the offsets they buy as part of a ‘reduce and offset’ approach. Leading NGO’s, economists, politicians and business leaders agree with this approach.
Carbon offsetting enables you to take responsibility for the greenhouse gas emissions your activities create by paying someone to reduce CO2 emissions on your behalf. ClimateCare uses this money to fund Emission Reduction projects in developing countries. Each year ClimateCare selects a range of projects from our portfolio and make them available for clients that buy online. Have a look at some of ClimateCare’s projects.
It’s a simple process
Simply enter the information into the carbon calculator on the left of this page to work out how many tonnes of CO2 your activities produce; you can then pay ClimateCare through this website to reduce the equivalent amount of CO2 in another part of the world. Each year ClimateCare select a range of Emission Reduction projects from our wider portfolio for our online customers to support – please view this year’s portfolio.
When you offset with ClimateCare we provide a certificate showing your emission reductions, as well as redution tips to help you continue reducing where possible.
Alternatively, if you are an SME business and require help with your footprint or to receive an invoice please contact ClimateCare.
